Silambam
Silambam is an ancient Tamil martial art that originated in India over 2,000 years ago. It is a comprehensive self-defense system that combines physical postures (karanam), footwork, hand movements, and weapon techniques to equip practitioners with effective self-protection skills.
Defensive Techniques : Silambam emphasizes defense through quick, fluid movements that allow practitioners to block and parry attacks from multiple directions. The art teaches the practitioner to use the stick to deflect or redirect an opponent’s attack, making it difficult for the attacker to land a blow.Defensive techniques include using the staff to block or strike pressure points, joints, and other vulnerable areas, incapacitating the opponent without causing severe injury.
